Giving Back

Sheboygan County Humane Society Puppy

By choosing me as your photographer, you are supporting my mission to help animals in need.

Since I began volunteering for the Sheboygan County Humane Society (SCHS) in 2008 and Lakeshore Avian & Reptile Rescue & Sanctuary (LARRS) in 2015, I have photographed thousands of homeless pets in hopes to help them find their forever home.

How do you do it?

Sweetie Pie (pictured right) was a little nervous, but she came along with me, tail wagging, as I lead her out of her kennel for her photoshoot.

I sat on the floor and without hesitation plopped right into my lap. She looked back at me with an accomplished look in her eyes.

Some of these animals will go some terrible things in their life that would make most people lose all hope and happiness… yet here they are, tail wagging ready to go.

Sweetie Pie found happiness in a confusing and scary time in her life, and I was able to give it to her.

These animals inspire you to an optimistic lifestyle.

They look on the bright side of life no matter the situation. They don’t dwell on yesterday or worry what will happen tomorrow; They enjoy life in the moment.

Hearts Speak

I am a proud artist member of Hearts Speak, a group of artists who all have the common goal of helping animals through our artwork! From the Hearts Speak website: “We are a global network of animal photographers, graphic designers, writers, illustrators, painters and advocates who provide our time and professional services pro-bono, to animal welfare organizations in our communities.”

Adopt Me Spotlight Sessions

It’s not uncommon for a dog, cat, or critter to end up spending more time than most at the shelter. Why is this? It could be their behavior, looks, or just bad luck! But whatever it is, my hope is to help them out by giving them their own Adopt Me Spotlight Session to help shine a better light on them. My very first session was with Kimbo, a black pittie mix who had been returned, had been there a few months, but had a lot of love to give. When I found out he was adopted, and his new owners personally messaged me to let me know, I was thrilled! They saw his photos online from his Adopt Me Spotlight Session and just fell in love. Nearly a year later, I can report Kimbo has not come back. My goal and hope is that every Spotlight Session ends this way.
